Kershaw vs. Snell is a marquee matchup as the two left-handed pitchers go head-to-head once again. The NL West continues to be a battle and both teams can make up huge ground with a victory on Tuesday. For this game, I take a look at the winner straight up thanks to some inconsistencies with one ballclub’s starting pitcher.
Two of the best LHP in the game go head-to-head as Clayton Kershaw (LAD) and Blake Snell (SDP) get the nod for their respective teams. Kershaw is 8-6 on the season but has a solid 3.36 ERA and 104 strikeouts. The Padres are familiar with Kershaw, as he has faced several players in this lineup throughout his career. Most notably, Manny Machado has 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 24 at-bats against Kershaw. Snell isn’t dominating lie in previous seasons but his 85 K’s will be something to watch in this one. Overall, the Dodgers lineup has only a few hitters that have seen Snell on multiple occasions. For this free MLB pick, I think taking a team on the Moneyline makes the most sense. With these two lefties, I am sketched out by the over/under because of Snell’s inconsistency, which is why I think the winner straight up will be the play. With that being said, I think taking the Dodgers ML at -130 (10Bet) is your best MLB bet for this game. Snell has been shelled this season and doesn’t seem to have the stuff like he once had. LA’s offense is stellar and they are one of the highest-scoring teams in professional baseball. They also lead the National League in runs scored, RBI and base on balls. The Dodgers are weapons at the plate and should have a field day against Snell, a pitcher who has struggled this season. I think the Padres have a ton of good qualities, but they aren’t on the same level as the Dodgers. Of course, players like Tatis Jr., Machado and Meyers have the ability to be equalizers, but I have to go with my gut for this MLB prediction. Although the W/L metric may not show it, Kershaw is still one of the best in the games. I have been fooled betting against him and I won’t be fooled again.
The Padres are 6-10 as underdogs this season. LA are 21-16 on the road this season. Kershaw is 2-1 in last 3 starts against SDP. Snell has pitched to a no-decision in 3 straight starts against LAD.
