Free Picks: Las Vegas Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs, Week 5

Raiders vs Chiefs
New England Patriots vs Green Bay Packers, NFL, Arrowhead Stadium

The Raiders look to get back on course here after dropping their last two games, while the Chiefs try to keep the good times rolling against their division rivals. Offense will reign supreme here as we can expect a lot of action on the scoreboard. 888sport has the TOTAL POINTS set at 56.5. Neither team is particularly great defensively, but both teams can certainly put up points. Expect the Raiders to hang around in a tight divisional showdown.

Just Win Baby

Jon Gruden must be echoing those iconic words of the late great Al Davis to his players in the Raiders locker room. The Raiders started the season hot winning both of their first two games, including an impressive victory against the New Orleans Saints. However, they’ve fallen back down to earth since then and have ceded losses to the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills. Both at home.

Now they’re going on the road to take on the reigning Super Bowl champs on their home turf, and it won’t be easy. Kansas City is 4-0 and they look as good as ever. There’s a guy in Seattle that’s taken away some of his spotlight recently, but you can never take your focus off of Patrick Mahomes. He’s played spectacularly so far this season as he’s thrown 11 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions. Through the first four games of the season, he’s posted a QBR of 87.7, which is outstanding, and second only to Aaron Rodgers.

We can go on all day about Mahomes and the Chief’s offense, but let’s take a minute to discuss the Raiders. They currently rank in the top ten in points scored per game. Derek Carr is playing well, and has a QBR of 77.1 across the first four games. He’s thrown for 8 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions, so he’s not all that far behind Mahomes in that regard.

Online sports bettors may be inclined to always ride with the Chiefs, and rightfully so. But I think this is going to be a close contest. The Los Angeles Chargers were able to push the Chiefs to overtime back in Week 2, and the Raiders are better than the Chargers. They have a lot of great weapons on offense including TE Darren Waller, RB Josh Jacobs and a good group of pass catchers.

888sport has the Total Points set at 56.5, which is pretty high, but points will be scored often in this game. Both teams rank in the top 10 in overall offense and are also top 10 in 2nd half scoring.
