Rams at 49ers - Week 6
San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Rams, NFL, Levi’s Stadium

After suffering a brutal defeat against a low-tier opponent in Week 5, the San Francisco 49ers will look to capture a win against their division rivals, Los Angeles Rams. 888sport has the Rams favoured by -3.5, but the 49ers have to get back on the winning column before their season gets out of hand.

49ers Took An L, But Try to Bounce Back

I’m not sure exactly what’s going on with the San Francisco 49ers this season. They’ve been decimated by injuries on both sides of the ball since the season kicked off and it’s been a contributing factor to their 2-3 record.

However, it’s one thing to lose against a decent division rival like the Arizona Cardinals, and another one entirely to get absolutely embarrassed by the MIAMI DOLPHINS. At home!

But, we’re not here to talk about the past. Looking ahead at this matchup, it seems like the 49ers will have another rough day, as the Rams currently sit comfortably with a 4-1 record.

Jared Goff is looking pretty good too.

He’s having a good comeback season so far, after a lackluster year in 2019. His completion percentage is 71.7 and he has 8 passing touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He’s not world-class like Aaron Rodgers, but he’s doing a great job at keeping his offense productive here in 2020.

The Rams currently rank fifth overall in yards per game, as they average with 403.6. They’re also averaging 139.6 yards on the ground, and rank in seventh overall in rushing offense, which is somewhat surprising when you consider the weird situation they have in their backfield where Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson Jr., and Malcolm Brown all have weeks where they emerge as the top runner for the Rams.

Their defense is the real reason for their recent success, however. They rank third overall in points allowed, only allowing an average of 18.0 per game. My instincts are telling me that their defense is a bit overrated as they’ve played against a lot of mediocre opponents this season, but nevertheless, they are a tough unit to play against.

Combine the 49ers’ woes on offense and the Rams tight defense, and I think we have the makings of a low-scoring game. 888sport has the OVER/UNDER set at 51 (1.91)

FREE PICK: UNDER 51 TOTAL POINTS TO HIT (1.91)

The 49ers don’t look good, but this looks like it might be the game where they bounce back. If they don’t turn it around this weekend, their chances at making the playoffs will look bleak, and I’m pretty sure they’re aware of that. Bettors may be cautious of betting on San Francisco right now in any capacity, but I’ll take them to cover the spread at home, which 888sport has set at +3.5.
