Free Picks: Brooklyn Nets vs. Golden State Warriors

Nets vs Warriors NBA
Brooklyn Nets vs. Golden State Warriors, NBA, Barclays Center

With Klay Thompson out for the season for the Warriors, teams will be putting all of their focus on Steph Curry, which bettors could take advantage of in the season opener against the Nets on Tuesday. Though Brooklyn will surely be keying on Curry, he’s also a great creator for his teammates, and he could be playing that role a lot against the Nets.

Expect To See Curry The Playmaker Vs. The Nets

Not having Thompson (their second-best player) in the fold will surely make it very difficult for the Warriors this season, but Curry is more than capable of carrying the team. We’d expect him to stay healthy and put up an MVP-caliber season this year, but the better teams will always focus their defensive strategy on the Splash Bro, which is why you should consider a prop wager on one of his teammates against the stacked Nets, who are the favorites to win the NBA’s Eastern Conference.

Draymond Green was supposed to be back, but a sprained foot will likely keep him out of the season opener. The two guys we want to focus on here are offseason addition Kelly Oubre Jr. and early-2020 acquisition Andrew Wiggins, the two players who are likely to serve as the second and third options on offense this season for Golden State. The two wing players were the only Warriors apart from Curry to play 21.0+ minutes and average double-digit points per game during the preseason.

Neither Wiggins nor Oubre have had much chance to prove themselves in Golden State, so they will surely be looking to make a good impression to start this season off. While it is hard to trust Wiggins because of his past history of underperformance, this seems like a great spot to take an over prop for the Canadian: with Green and Thompson out, the defense will have all eyes on Curry.

Considering the importance the Nets are likely to put on stopping Curry from scoring, as well as the six-time All-Star’s elite playmaking ability, wagering on big overall games from Wiggins and Oubre seems like the way to go on Tuesday evening. On sports betting site 22Bet, both Oubre (25.5) and Wiggins (26.5) have solid -110 odds on the over for their points + assists + rebounds props. The over on Steph Curry’s assist prop (6.5) has slightly less attractive -137 odds, but that one is our lock of the game. If you’re interested in a parlay, pairing Curry’s assist prop with either the Oubre or the Wiggins prop (but not both) will net you very attractive +181 odds.
